GOFA grew from a committee initially formed by members of Chapel Street Methodist Church, Penzance in 1992, to provide a sleepover for the homeless.
The name GOFA was adopted as it evolved into a furniture reuse project. The numbers of people both requesting and donating furniture increased as various agencies referred their clients to the project.
